Studio note
A small atelier. Two clients a season. Eight projects a year. Built to age well.
We design brand identities, websites and editorial systems for companies and institutions that care about the craft. We start with a long conversation and finish with something that does not need to be redesigned in two years.
The studio sits on a quiet street near the Assembleia. Five permanent designers, an expanded family of photographers, writers and engineers. We work in English and Portuguese, on briefs from Lisbon to Stockholm.

We are five designers on Rua de São Bento.
We are slow on purpose. We say no to seven of every ten briefs that come in. The ones we say yes to, we live in for eight to twelve weeks. That is the model — and it is the work.

What we do.
Five disciplines, all built on a single editorial sensibility. We mix and match — most projects use three. We are happy to be the only studio you work with, or to slot in next to another.

From the journal.
The pace of paper
On building websites that read like printed things, and why we keep coming back to the magazine.
A grid that breathes
Designing typographic systems that scale gracefully from a phone to a poster.
WebGL without the show-off
How we use real-time graphics on our sites — and when we choose not to.
